Jeremy Ben-Ami chairs Foreign Policy for America’s Audit Committee and serves as Treasurer. Mr. Ben-Ami led the charge to establish J Street and currently serves as the president of the organization which educates and advocates on US policy toward Israel and the Middle East. Mr. Ben-Ami’s Israeli roots run deep. His family settled in Israel 130 years ago. His grandparents were among the founding families in Tel Aviv, and his father smuggled European Jews out of Europe during World War II. Prior to starting J Street, he served on the Clinton campaign and in the Clinton White House as the Deputy Domestic Policy Adviser. He left the Clinton administration in 1997 to move to Jerusalem, working at a consulting firm specializing in the nonprofit sector. After returning from Israel, he served as Policy Director for New York City Public Advocate Mark Green and later as Green’s campaign manager in the 2001 mayoral race. Later, he worked as National Policy Director to Howard Dean’s 2004 presidential campaign. Mr. Ben-Ami has been listed on Forward’s list of most influential Jewish-Americans, Ha’aretz 50 “People of the Decade,” and The Jerusalem Post’s 50 most influential Jews in the world.
