Foreign Policy in a Post-Pandemic World

The Urgent Need for Diplomacy

June 10th, 2020

On June 10th, 2020, Foreign Policy for America hosted the second event in our members-only event series, The New Normal: Foreign Policy in a Post-Pandemic World, where we discuss the effects of the pandemic from a global, big-picture perspective.

The Urgent Need for Diplomacy, featured a deep-dive discussion on the role of the State Department in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a global crisis, the pandemic will require global solutions. International cooperation is needed to develop and effectively distribute treatments and vaccines, to stimulate the global economy, and to respond to humanitarian crises around the world.

FP4A board member Stephen Grand was joined by Rep. Joaquin Castro, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations and Amb. Linda Thomas-Greenfield, Senior VP at Albright Stonebridge Group and former Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs to discuss how we can revitalize the State Department, support our diplomats, and recruit new talent.
