Washington D.C. — Yesterday’s election results were a clarion call for change. Voters came out in extraordinary numbers to reject Trump’s costly, corrupt war and to restore principles and decency to Washington. They elected new moral voices, including James Talarico and Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, who campaigned against bigotry, division, and unnecessary war. They elected dedicated public servants devoted to rooting out corruption, like Paige Cognetti, Randy Villegas, and Zach Dembo. And they sent to Washington a new class of national security leaders – heroes like Rebecca Bennett, Luke Bronin, JoAnna Mendoza, and Jessica Killin – who understand what it takes to keep Americans safe. It was an unprecedented rebuke with clear implications for this coming Congress.
When Congress returns next week, and when the new class takes their seats in January, they will arrive with an unassailable mandate from voters. End this war. Root out White House corruption and build an economy that works for everyone, not just the well connected. End the legal corruption that allows AIPAC to spend $42 million in one Senate race and tech billionaires like Elon Musk to spend half a billion. Regulate an AI industry that risks racing out of control. And reverse inhumane Trump policies on foreign aid and deportations.
Foreign Policy for America stands with these new leaders looking to shake up Washington, and we look forward to working with them.
