Lawmakers in both parties want to know who made the call. Americans deserve answers.
This fits a cruel pattern. This month alone, the Trump administration has twice eased sanctions on Russia, with Steve Witkoff praising Vladimir Putin as a humanitarian. President Trump and his billionaire allies keep cozying up to Putin.
The costs of this decision are significant: innocent lives lost, an emboldened Russia, a longer war, escalating risks for our European allies, and a less stable world. No billionaire should be allowed to act with such impunity. Congress must act.
