Washington, D.C. – Foreign Policy for America (FP4A) welcomes the announcement of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and commends the tireless diplomatic efforts that enabled this critical agreement. We call on all parties to use this moment to advance toward a durable resolution that will bring this conflict to an end.
Coming more than two years since the start of the fighting, this agreement, if implemented, will reunite hostages with their loved ones, surge lifesaving aid into Gaza, and prevent further destruction and displacement of communities in Gaza. While additional steps are needed to restore humanitarian services and ensure that aid reaches the most vulnerable populations, this ceasefire is a necessary first step toward ending this crisis.
The United States, alongside our allies and partners across the region, must remain fully engaged and committed to the success these diplomatic efforts, ensuring that all parties are held to account and follow through on ongoing negotiations and a full implementation of the comprehensive peace proposal.
