Washington D.C. – We are heartbroken by the horrific act of violence last night that took the lives of two individuals in Washington, DC. The attack took place outside an event at the Capital Jewish Museum, an institution devoted to serving our community, living out Jewish values, and celebrating the legacy of Jewish Americans in the Capitol region.
Our thoughts are with the families, friends, and colleagues of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim as they mourn this terrible loss and with all Jewish Americans as they confront new fears for themselves and their loved ones.
Last night’s attack is part of a terrifying pattern of antisemitic violence targeting Jewish Americans and establishments and a broader trend of rising hate crimes and violence, ripping at the fabric of our pluralistic society. These violent acts have no place in our society and cannot be tolerated.
