Washington, DC – In response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, Foreign Policy for America released the following statement:
“Foreign Policy for America believes that gender equity is fundamental — the core of our country’s commitment to human rights at home and abroad. We condemn the Supreme Court’s shocking decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
“We mourn today’s decision because of its immediate harmful impacts on the health and rights of women and girls in the U.S. In addition, by reducing America’s human rights leadership globally, this decision carries consequences for billions more.
“In countries around the world, today’s reversal of Roe v Wade will be seen as yet another sign of the radical politicization of US government institutions, which threatens not only our democracy but the basic rights and well-being of our fellow citizens. We can and must do better.”
