Foreign Policy for America Applauds Agreement on Build Back Better Legislation

Washington, DC – Foreign Policy for America welcomes the news that lawmakers and President Biden have agreed to a framework to pass the much needed Build Back Better legislation. The agreement includes a historic $555 billion investment to incentivize clean energy innovation and job creation across the country. As President Biden travels to the G20 Summit in Rome and the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, this legislative agreement sends a clear message that America is committed to combating climate change and to leading the global clean energy economy.

Much more work remains to rebuild from the COVID-19 pandemic and to reorient our national security strategy to tackle the security challenges of the future. But this agreement represents a powerful step forward, and we applaud the White House and Democratic leaders in the House and Senate for their leadership on this critical legislation.

“The best way to compete with China is to make sure we’re strong here at home – and that means all of us, every family and every community. President Biden’s Build Back Better legislation will deliver massive investments in our workforce and our communities across the country that will accelerate and lock in our economic recovery,” said Foreign Policy for America Executive Director Andrew Albertson. “FP4A is particularly pleased to see the historic investment in clean energy jobs and innovation. We’ve seen the devastating effects of climate change on our communities. It’s the number one security threat we face today as a country. Ahead of the COP26 climate talks, this is a powerful demonstration of America’s commitment to combating climate change and to leading the global clean energy economy.”
