Foreign Policy for America Applauds Departure of Afghan Allies, Urges More Action

Washington, DC – Foreign Policy for America is pleased by the news that 200 Afghan interpreters and their families have departed Afghanistan to the United States and calls for Afghan partner relocations to continue with increased urgency. The additional funding and legislative provisions to support relocation included in the Emergency Security Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 are crucial tools for making that happen.

“The United States owes a great debt to the thousands of Afghan men and women who partnered with us, often at great personal risk, and it is our duty to ensure their safety as the U.S. transitions out of Afghanistan,” said Ben Weingrod, Senior Director for Policy at Foreign Policy for America. “In addition to relocating interpreters and others who supported the U.S. military, it is critical that the Biden administration also speedily relocate U.S. government implementing partners who worked with the United States over the past two decades.”
