Foreign Policy for America Statement on Secretary Blinken’s First Day

Washington, DC – Foreign Policy for America Executive Director Andrew Albertson released the following statement of congratulations upon Secretary of State Tony Blinken’s first day at the State Department:

“Congratulations to Secretary Blinken as he continues his extraordinary service to our country. Speaking to State Department employees today, Secretary Blinken said ‘it’s a new day for America. It’s a new day for the world.’ We couldn’t agree more. After four years of bluster and saber rattling, we have every confidence Secretary Blinken will lead the revitalization of the State Department and restore diplomacy as America’s tool of first resort.

“Secretary Blinken has now served in three administrations over three decades, holding top roles on Capitol Hill, in the White House, and at the State Department. One of FP4A’s earliest and most active advisors, Blinken co-chaired FP4A’s policy committee during the 115th Congress together with former Under Secretary of Defense Michèle Flournoy. As he returns today to the State Department, where he began his career in public service in 1993, we wish him every success.”
