On Monday, September 23rd, seven freshman Democratic Members of the House published an op-ed in the Washington Post calling allegations of President Trump’s recent actions a threat to national security, and if true, an impeachable offense.

Rep. Gil Cisneros, Rep. Jason Crow, Rep. Chrissy Houlahan, Rep. Elaine Luria, Rep. Mikie Sherrill, Rep. Elissa Slotkin, and Rep. Abigail Spanberger all have a history of service to our country and a national security background. As a group, these Members are speaking about the possibility of impeachment for the first time because they feel there is a true threat to the security of our country.

Like any Member of Congress, these seven would prefer to stay focused on the immediate needs of their constituents – healthcare, economic policy, and infrastructure. But throughout their careers, they have sworn oaths to defend the Constitution of the United States.

“We must preserve the checks and balances envisioned by the Founders and restore the trust of the American people in our government. And that is what we intend to do.”

We at Foreign Policy for America are proud to stand with these Members of Congress and we are grateful for their leadership in defense of our democracy and national security. We’re asking that our supporters do the same.

Will you stand with these national security freshmen?
